Is anyone else tired of seeing a bunch of photos of donuts today that instagrammers most likely aren’t eating? I won’t do that to you, I try my hardest to keep it 100 over here and news flash, we aren’t eating donuts everyday. Today’s recipe is a healthier indulgence, my husband loves going to brazilian steakhouses, you know the ones that bring the different meats to your table? Even though this isn’t my personal favorite way to dine, I take one for the team from time to time because they do always have an excellent salad bar and oh yeah… today’s recipe inspiration! Grilled pineapple with cinnamon and sugar. Okay we can pretty much stop this post right here because that is all the ingredients you need to make these healthy sweets. It sounds too simple to be life changing but I have been making them at least once a week in our house when we want something sweet and sometimes I will even add a little it of coconut whipped cream to the top but that part is completely optional as the grilled pineapple doesn’t need any help in the flavor department.
- 1 fresh pineapple, with the skin and core removed (I purchased mine already cut and ready to go in the circles from Central Market)
- 1 tablespoon of sugar, organic if you prefer but any sugar will work!
- 1 tablespoon of cinnamon
- Heat the grill on the stove or the outside grill to a medium, medium-high heat and spray with a little bit on olive oil spray or coconut oil spray so the pineapple won't stick. On a plate mix together the sugar and cinnamon and then add in the pineapple and move around to cover the pineapple with cinnamon and sugar. Then add to the grill and grill on each side for 5 minutes, until the pineapple is golden brown and softened. Then serve and enjoy! You can always add a little bit of coconut whipped cream on top if you would like!
Dip or sprinkle the fresh pineapple rings into a even mixture of sugar and cinnamon on a plate and then add directly to a olive oil sprayed pan, grill on both sides for 5 minutes until the pineapple turns somewhat soft and golden brown, then plate and enjoy.
I sometimes feel like a salesman when I am blogging but the truth is a recipe doesn’t go up on my site unless I am completely in love with it and would definitely eat/make it again. I have the world’s worst sweet tooth and I know others feel the same way so when I find a recipe that can satisfy my sweet tooth (completely) AND allow me to reach my goals I just have to share! Give this recipe a try and report back because I know you are going to love it as much as I do.
